We’re excited to share an excellent volunteer opportunity. The Manitoba Association of Women’s Shelters (MAWS) is hosting their 2nd Provincial & Federal Shelter Symposium: Empower, Connect, Inspire on October 7-9, 2025, at the Victoria Inn Hotel & Conference Centre in Winnipeg.
This is an exceptional opportunity to apply your training, expand your professional network, and make meaningful connections that could benefit your career in the shelter and GBV support sector.
This three-day symposium offers a unique chance for you:
- Build valuable relationships within the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) sector
- Network with organizations and advocates from across Manitoba and beyond
- Gain exposure to potential career opportunities in your field
- Contribute meaningfully to an essential cause while gaining hands-on experience
Volunteer Opportunities Available
Registration Team (4 volunteers needed)
- Assist with participant registration, distribute event packages, name tags, and materials
- Required for Day 1 and Day 2
- Time commitment: 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. each day
Note-Takers (2 per day)
- Document key insights and discussions during sessions
- Food provided as part of volunteer appreciation
Event Photographer (1 per day or ideally all 3 days)
- Must provide own photography equipment
- Capture essential moments and activities throughout the symposium
- Food provided as part of volunteer appreciation
Additional Roles (subject to funding confirmation)
- Session moderators
- Event greeters
- Survey assistants
