The Manitoba Association of Women’s Shelters (MAWS) is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the October 2025 cohort of the Shelter Support Worker Program, a comprehensive micro-credential training initiative designed to prepare individuals for meaningful careers in the family violence and homelessness sectors.
This free, intensive program addresses the growing need for qualified professionals in Manitoba’s shelter system while providing accessible career pathways for community members passionate about creating positive change.

The Shelter Support Worker Program is the result of a collaborative partnership between MAWS, Manitoba family violence and homeless shelters, and Red River College. This unique micro-credential program focuses on developing the fundamental skills and knowledge required to work effectively in family violence or homeless shelter environments.
